Since the early nineties, PMI members residing in the Benelux area were part of a large potential chapter called Norden.

At the first PMI Europe Conference held in Paris in June, 1997, the idea was born to create a more local chapter for the Benelux countries.

After significant preparation work by a founding Board of Directors, the Project Management Institute officially recognized the PMI Benelux Chapter as an independent component in the fourth quarter of 1998.

In the second half of 2000 the process of localization continued to start the preparation for a PMI Netherlands Chapter, which was officially recognized by the Project Management Institute as an independent component in October 2001. In the same period the former the Benelux Chapter changed into BeLux Chapter.

PMI Netherlands Chapter founders are:

  • Rene Vielvoije
  • Jan Vermeijs
  • Anton Zandhuis

Since the formal start of the PMI Netherlands Chapter, the organization has been growing very rapidly confirming the need of the Project Management community in the Netherlands to have a local Chapter.
