Unexpected Research Results in the Field of Project Management!

Three speakers will address their research in this event hosted by the HU.

Research usually provides us with answers, sometimes with unexpected ones. Several splendid examples are used to illustrate the research into learning project management. Trainers and educators do not teach what practitioners advocate they should do. There is no agreement among competence research. Could this be context dependent or is research just taking the wrong approach? Come and find out.

The second lecture is about leadership styles of project managers. This TU Delft Master thesis study (nominated for the Dutch Master Thesis Award), explores how the contract type affects the leadership style. Certain expected effects do not surface in practice. What was expected and why some of them did not surface will be discussed in this presentation.

The third lecture is about Research Insight: Understanding practitioners’ perspective on project success factors, and Research Experience: The approach and your input to research, a Call to action for PMI members.

Steven Nijhuis MSc is a project manager, a researcher and a lecturer at the Utrecht University of Applied Science. He started a PhD study into learning project management after discovering that this an unchartered territory in academics.

Sarah Heemskerk MSc graduated in June 2017 at the TU Delft for the master track Management in the Built Environment. She now works as a project manager at abcnova Utrecht.

Maedeh Molaei researcher at the Delft University of Technology Faculty of Civil Engineering & Geosciences for the Integral Design & Management Department.
